LIMA – CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY
Early arrival in Lima and connecting flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco short drive to the Sacred Valley where you can relax for the rest of the day. Dinner served at the hotel

SACRED VALLEY – PISAC - CHINCHERO – OLLANTAYTAMBO
Today we will visit what is called the Sacred Valley of the Inca, the landscape may at times seems to resemble or remind some other places but yet you will never find a space so charged with energy, history, living cultures, mysticism and wonders as this valley, the Inca temple of nature. Stop in Pisac and Chinchero for typical handcraft from local artisan, Lunch in Urubamba capitol for the sweetest corn, then continue to Ollantaytambo and visit the monumental stones of its great Temple of the Sun. Return to the hotel and dinner.

INCA TRAIL PISCACUCHO - HUAYLLABAMBA
Today after breakfast we start our expeditions on the famous Inca Trail. It was built as a vast network of roads to be able to communicate with the four regions of their huge empire. The network was known as Qhapaq Nan or Inca Road. It was built of stone pathways, suitable for the traffic of two or three people with a herd of llamas. There are remains of the Qhapaq Nan throughout Peru that are still used to this day by local farmers and peasants. One of the most impressive and best preserved roads is the trail that links Cusco to Machu Picchu. We will begin the trek at Km 82 of the railway line Cusco –Machu Picchu. Here we will meet our porters whom are going to help us with all the camping equipment. We will pass the Piscacucho Bridge bordering the Urubamba River, after 3 hours of walking we will arrive to Llactapata where we will visit the archeological site. After lunch we continue until our first camping located close to the Kusichaca River. In Huayallabamba we camp and have dinner. Total 8 miles/ 6 hours.

DAY 5:

INCA TRAIL HUAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYO
Hiking this trail allows you to step back in time and walk though a variety of eco-system and dazzling scenery. The total length is 24 miles and includes unforgettable views, archeological remains, 400 different species of orchids and begonias, exotic trees and innumerable species of fauna in their natural habitat. The Inca trail is one of the world’s most important trekking and camping routes; the altitude is between a minimum of 8528 feet and a maximum of 13776 feet. Today after breakfast we walk from Wayllabama to Llulluchapampa for lunch then to the highest part of the trail in Warmihuanusca (12600 feet) where we can see the trail we did and the one still to come, then we continue to our second campsite Pacaymayo (10800 feet) dinner and overnight. Total 6 miles 5:30 hours.




DAY 6:

INCA TRAIL PACAYMAYO - WINAYWAINA
After breakfast we walk from Pacaymayo to the area of Runcuracay where there is an archeological site and a stoned paved way that leads to the Cloud forest moving away from the Puna. This passage will give us opportunity to enjoy the flora and fauna of the zone. Lunch and visit of the ruins of Phuyupatamarca. Following the trek we will arrive to Winaywayna recently excavated archeological site and we will spend the night. Dinner on a campsite. Total 9 miles/ 7hours

DAY 7:

INCA TRAIL WINAYWAINA – MACHU PICCHU Breakfast and walk to the last part of the trail, which is the Inti Punku, the Sun Gate (8100 feet) from where you will have the most amazing view of the Inca citadel and its spectacular landscape. Time to stroll around take a picture and then by bus we will go to the hotel for a nice hot shower and dinner. Total 3 miles 2:30 hours.

DAY 8:

MACHU PICCHU – AGUACALIENTE – CUSCO
After breakfast a bus will take us up to the citadel for a private guided tour of the excavation. Time on your own to visit Agua Caliente and have lunch. Early afternoon we will take the famous train, which connect Machu Picchu to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco transfer to the hotel and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 9:

CUSCO
Today we will enjoy this splendid town. Once Cusco was formed the heart of the Inca Empire, later to be conquered by the Spanish. They destroyed the city and used the foundations of the Inca constructions to build a new colonial city. Just outside of Cusco you can still find impressive Inca ruins. Our private English-speaking guide will take us to see the colonial part of the town and the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, the red fortress of Puka Pukara and the Inca bath at Tambomachay. After the tour you will have time for lunch, shop and wondering around. Farewell dinner in a restaurant

 

DAY 10

CUSCO – LIMA –USA
Early departure to Lima. Once we arrive we will have a private sightseeing tour of Lima followed by lunch and time at leisure. In the afternoon back to the airport in order to take a flight back home.
